BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say all seven people aboard were killed when their private plane crashed and burned at a Massachusetts air field. Matthew Brelis, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates Hanscom Field in Bedford, says the Gulfstream IV was leaving about 9:40 last night for Atlantic City. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities in Washington state say there's next to no hope for six climbers on Mount Rainier who apparently fell thousands of feet from their campsite, possibly in an avalanche. Helicopters detected pings from avalanche beacons and spotted climbing gear. Park officials say the area is dangerous enough that putting searchers in on foot might not be attempted.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Despite agreements with some Las Vegas casinos, a strike threat looms at three downtown properties today. Union negotiators reached tentative contract deals with two more casinos but more than 450 union restaurant workers, hotel housekeepers, cocktail servers and bartenders remain without a contract at the Plaza, Las Vegas Club and Golden Gate.

LUCKNOW, India (AP) — Police say they have confessions to the gang rape and slaying of two teenage girls who were found hanging from a tree in northern India last week. Police say three detained suspects admit the crime and two suspects remain at large. India has a long history of tolerance for sexual violence. But the gang rape and killing of the 14- and 15-year-old cousins caused outrage across the nation.

BANGKOK (AP) — An official ban and the deployment of thousands of troops and police in Bangkok by Thailand's military rulers hasn't completely prevented protests against the May 22 coup. Hundreds of demonstrators shouting "Freedom!" and "Democracy!" gathered near a major shopping mall in downtown Bangkok today to denounce the takeover.
