SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Proposed changes to the University of Utah's fight song that has been criticized as sexist are due Saturday.

University President David Pershing says any modifications to the 1904 tune must strike a balance between tradition and inclusion. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and others can suggest new lyrics.

While some say the lyrics "I'm a Utah man" and "our coeds are the fairest" are sexist, others say they honor tradition and hold sentimental value. Similar debates have popped up at schools across the country.

A committee will look over the proposed changes to the song, "Utah Man."

Pershing says the university has received hundreds of emails regarding the fight song.
