PLAIN CITY, Weber County — Police are offering $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of vandals who tagged Fremont High School Monday night.

Staff members discovered "profane and sexually oriented" graffiti covering most of the school's exterior Tuesday morning, according to Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Lane Findlay.

Vandals spray-painted portable buildings, trees, walkways and the majority of the building's outside walls, doors and windows, police said. The tagging took place the night of graduation, but days before school is out for the year.

Maintenance workers spent Tuesday and part of Wednesday cleaning the graffiti with a biodegradable cleaner and repainting the damaged doors, according to Weber School District spokesman Nate Taggart. He estimates the cost of cleanup will be about $2,000.

Deputies were looking over surveillance footage and talking to students in an effort to locate the vandals. "At this point we really don't have any solid suspects," Findlay said.

Local business owners have pooled resources to provide $1,000 to anyone with information that leads to the arrests of the vandals.

"There is amazing community support out there in the Plain City area," Taggart said.

Anyone with information can call 801-629-8221.

Those responsible for the vandalism could face felony criminal mischief charges, "based on the extensive damage done," Findlay said.
