This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

A few years back, Fred Gil discovered a product designed to keep heavy-duty sporting equipment safe while on the road and found it to be really effective. He couldn't believe it when a short time later the product disappeared. After a little research, he found a way to purchase the product again and instead of just buying more, he ended up buying the company and renaming it Shock Strap.

Fred bought the company in December 2012. By April 1 of this year they have already exceeded all of last year's sales, so they're on track to have a great year. Fred says the company has taken a life of its own; instead of being a small side business, ShockStrap is a full-time enterprise that couldn't have happened without the support of his wife, Kelly Gil. It's a name and product that resonates with customers, with national and international distribution.

What separates Shock Strap from other similar products is the inventor was a sportsman, so he created a product based on a specific need. What he created with Shock Strap was a strap that keeps constant pressure while in use. This means when you're out adventuring, your ATVs and side-by-sides will be secure in your trailer as you travel to your destination.

This product is so remarkable that one client was in an accident, where he rolled a one-ton van with three motorcycles on it, and his motorcycles stayed securely fastened. The Shock Strap isn't very big, but the effectiveness speaks for itself. All it takes to sell the product is for customers to see a demonstration of how it works, which is why he posted videos on YouTube and why he attends trade shows. Last year he went to 27 shows and has already gone to 16 this year.

If you'd like to find out more about how to build your company's global presence, you can attend the thirteenth annual Zions Bank Trade and Business Conference on May 21. For more information or to register, visit www.zionsbank.com/conference.
