TOOELE COUNTY — A person apparently was hit and killed on I-80 near the Nevada border. The westbound freeway was closed Monday morning as UHP investigated.

A driver called dispatch around 3:30 a.m. to report a possible dead animal in the road.

When UHP troopers arrived, they found a body that appeared to have been hit by multiple vehicles.

It's unknown when the person was initially hit, and troopers said they are unsure of the gender.

Westbound I-80 at mile marker 1 was closed for a few hours but it is now open.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
