PRICE, Utah (AP) — Carbon County Sheriff James Cordova is under investigation for alleged misuse of a county credit card and equipment to move to his new home in St. George.

County Attorney Gene Strate says his office is investigating allegations that Cordova spent about $2,100 on the credit card to purchase fuel for the county-owned pickup truck.

The sheriff also is accused of using a sheriff's search and rescue trailer to move personal belongings to the home.

Cordova has said he won't seek re-election to the office he has held since 1999. His term runs through the rest of the year. He bought the home in St. George in December.

Strate says the final investigative report will be reviewed by either the Utah Attorney General's Office or prosecutors in another county for possible charges.

Cordova's attorney declined comment.
