LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A Cache County search team has rescued a family of six that got lost in the snow last night while hunting turkeys near Logan Canyon. Deputies say Natalie Kaee and Chris Kaee called for help after vehicle broke down with their four children — ages 8, 6, 2 and 5 months. Five search teams tracked them down with GPS about 10:30 p.m. They were cold after six hours outdoors but in good condition with no serious injuries.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — University of Utah President David Pershing says he agrees it's time to consider some changes to the school fight song that some find sexist. Pershing said yesterday he's asking the Office of Student Affairs to oversee a committee that will weigh a "modest update" in the song, "Utah Man." Student leaders passed a resolution last month urging changes in the century-old song with lyrics that include, "our coeds are the fairest."
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Court records say police have seized letters, documents and furniture belonging to a Pleasant Grove woman accused of killing six of her newborns. Several search warrant affidavits show police retrieved the items days after Megan Huntsman told investigators in mid-April that, over a decade, she had given birth to the babies at home and killed them soon after. Huntsman is charged with six first-degree murder counts.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah County doctor convicted of killing his wife has been deemed competent to stand trial in a separate sexual abuse case. Martin MacNeill is ordered to stand trial on one count of forcible sexual abuse. The sexual abuse trial is scheduled to begin on July 2.
