SLOVYANSK, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian troops and armored personnel carriers are blocking all major roads into the eastern Ukrainian city of Slovyansk (SLAHV'-yansk), where the military launched an assault against pro-Russian separatists holding government facilities. Associated Press journalists report the central part of the city remains in the hands of Pro-Russia gunmen. Sporadic gunfire has been heard.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he's going to ask the attorney general to analyze problems surrounding the application of the death penalty in the United States. Obama was asked about a botched execution in Oklahoma. He said the crime the convicted killer committed was "heinous," but the failed execution was "troubling." He said the death penalty is warranted in some cases, but its application is problematic because of evidence of racial bias, and the eventual exoneration of some death row inmates.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — According to court documents, a Utah woman accused of killing six of her newborns and storing them in her garage couldn't recall exactly how many dead infants were in her home on the day she was arrested. An affidavit says Megan Huntsman told police on April 12 that were eight or nine dead babies in her home south of Salt Lake City. Huntsman has been charged with six counts of first-degree murder. She has not entered a plea.

TORONTO (AP) — According to his brother, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford expects to overcome his "little challenge" with substance abuse and get back to work after a stint in rehab. Doug Ford says his brother is on a path toward recovery. The comment follows a written report by City Hall officials that says Ford turned up drunk at a City Hall security office on St Patrick's Day and threatened a guard who had reported similar behavior two years ago. A newspaper reported this week that the mayor is seen on a video smoking what appears to be crack cocaine.

Jagger sang Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman." The service was held at St. Bartholomew's Church in Manhattan. Jagger's longtime backup singer Lisa Fischer sang "Amazing Grace."
