SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter and Attorney General Lawrence Wasden have filed a lawsuit to stop the Coeur d'Alene Tribe from offering poker at its northern Idaho casino. Otter and Wasden say the tribe is in violation of the Idaho Constitution and the tribe's gaming compact with the state. The Idaho Constitution prohibits poker.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is launching an initiative he says will boost economic development using planning collaboration but not much spending. The governor announced the plan, called Accelerate Idaho, this afternoon. The initiative establishes a checklist of areas needing improvement, including K-12 education, infrastructure and labor shortages in key industries.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A legal expert says Kootenai County likely can't enforce a gag order employees were required to sign. County employees were forced, under threat of losing their jobs, to cooperate in a sexual harassment investigation and sign an agreement barring them from speaking to anyone about the investigation. Employment law expert Ron Coulter says he doesn't believe that agreement is enforceable.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho State Police are honoring the people who found a teenage kidnapping victim and her captor in an Idaho forest last summer. The four residents of the community of Sweet are being recognized for their help in the rescue of Hannah Anderson. They include former Gem County Sheriff Mark Johnson and his wife.
