WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — President Barack Obama will give the commencement address at this year's graduation ceremony at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

White House spokesman Keith Maley made the announcement on Monday.

More than 1,000 cadets are expected to graduate and be commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army after completing their 47 months at West Point.

Obama is also scheduled to give the commencement address at the University of California, Irvine, in June.

Last year, Obama addressed the graduating class of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He also spoke at the commencements of Ohio State University and Morehouse College in Atlanta.
