OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) — At least three people are dead after a gunman opened fire today outside a Jewish community center and nearby retirement community in suburban Kansas City. The Overland Park police chief describes the suspect as a white man in his 70s. He says the suspect is in custody. The chief says it's too soon to determine if the shootings were hate crimes

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is offering condolences to the families of those killed in Sunday's shootings outside a Jewish community center and a retirement village in Kansas. Obama says he's asked his White House team to make sure law enforcement authorities have "the necessary resources to support the ongoing investigation."

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Strong thunderstorms are bringing rain and hail from the southwestern U.S. and Plains states to the upper Midwest. At least one tornado has been reported in southeastern Iowa. Tornado watches have been issued until midnight in parts of central and northeastern Texas and in areas in southeastern Oklahoma, southwestern Arkansas and northwestern Louisiana.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. Security Council is holding an emergency meeting on Ukraine tonight at Russia's request. The Russian ambassador says he's alarmed by Ukraine's announcement that it would deploy armed forces to quash an increasingly bold pro-Russian insurgency. But Britain's ambassador says there are increasing signs of Moscow's involvement in orchestrating the violence.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — It's the second Masters win in three years for golfer Bubba Watson. The left-hander claimed another green jacket by shooting a 3-under 69 in today's final round. His winning score was 8-under 280. Watson managed to fend off Jordan Spieth's bid to become the youngest major champion since 1931. The 20-year-old Texan finished with a 72 and 283 overall.
