CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) — NASA has ordered spacewalking repairs for a serious computer outage at the International Space Station. A backup computer for some robotic systems failed yesterday. The main computer is fine and the six-man crew is safe, but the malfunction puts next week's supply run in jeopardy. Mission managers agreed today that a spacewalk is needed to replace the bad computer.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The world's top finance officials say the global economy is recovering, and they're hopeful that well-run economic programs will avoid the risks that threaten the rebound. Concluding a meeting in Washington, D.C., today, the 188-nation International Monetary Fund pledged to work toward faster economic growth, with the aim of easing unemployment around the world.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is telling fellow conservatives he's glad Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (seh-BEEL'-yuhs) has stepped down. The Republican presidential candidate who lost out to Mitt Romney in 2011 called Sebelius and other Democrats "nut-case ideologues" and said they are incompetent. Gingrich is among the prominent Republicans appearing at a gathering of conservatives in New Hampshire.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A prominent Iranian lawmaker is accusing the United States of "bullying" his country after the Obama administration stopped Tehran's choice for U.N. ambassador from traveling to the United States. The lawmaker, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said Saturday that Washington had no right to intervene in Iran's U .N. envoy pick. The would-be U.N. ambassador is alleged to have participated in a Muslim student group that held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days during the embassy takeover.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Five high school students and three chaperones have been confirmed dead or are unaccounted for after a charter bus heading to Humboldt State University was struck by a FedEx tractor-trailer in Northern California. The bus and big rig drivers were killed, but their identities have not been released.
