MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) — The North Pike School District board has hired Dennis Penton as the school system's next superintendent, effective July 1.
Penton, a former Pearl River County School District superintendent, is now principal at Biloxi Junior High School. He succeeds former superintendent Ben Cox, who left last year to become superintendent of the Brookhaven School District.
The Enterprise-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1qI8lTm ) Penton was chosen from an initial field of six candidates. The board announced hiring this week.
Penton served as Pearl River County's superintendent for 10 years until resigning in 2011.
Before becoming superintendent in Pearl River County, Penton was an alternative school director for a consortium of four school districts, and he also has served as a middle school principal and a history and science teacher.
