PARIS (AP) — French prosecutors are examining whether an online dating site called sugardaddy.fr, which seeks to connect older men with younger women, is actually pimping.
The Paris prosecutor's office said Friday that a preliminary investigation of the site for "organized pimping" opened a day earlier.
The site claims a connection to a company called Phoenix Corp. based in the French Alps linked to other online meeting sites with names like Cougar Encounter, Nudist Encounter and Biker Meeting. Company officials didn't immediately respond to emails and phone messages from The Associated Press.
An advocacy group, Action Team against Pimping, recently filed a legal complaint on the issue. It claims most women on the site allude to an interest in money from the men.
