IMMIGRANT DEPORTATIONS-CONNECTICUT
HARTFORD, Conn. — Dozens of immigrants and their supporters are rallying in 11 cities in Connecticut before converging in front of a federal building in Hartford in the latest effort to urge President Barack Obama to use his executive powers to scale back deportations. Organizers say Saturday's rally was inspired by the refusal of Republicans in Congress to work on immigration reforms, even after Obama sought to appease them by deporting about 2 million immigrants during the past six years.
CONNECTICUT COLLEGE-PRESIDENT INAUGURATION
NEW LONDON, Conn. — Connecticut College has formally inaugurated Katherine Bergeron as its 11th president. Bergeron was formally installed Saturday during the Founders Day Inauguration ceremony featuring music that officials say reflects her roots as professor of musicology and growing global connections for the liberal arts college.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Joe Courtney and Debbie Wasserman Schultz made a friendly wager on the basketball game between the UConn Huskies and the University of Florida Gators. The teams will play Saturday after making it to the NCAA Final Four Semifinal.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is starring at the Connecticut Republican Party's 36th annual Prescott Bush Awards Dinner. Bush is among a crowded field of prospective 2016 presidential candidates. He is scheduled to be the keynote speaker for the event scheduled for Thursday at the Stamford Hilton Hotel.
FOILED DROWNING ATTEMPT
MERIDEN, Conn. — Police say efforts by 20-year-old woman commit suicide by driving her car into Hanover Pond in Meriden were foiled by two men who smashed out car windows and rescued her. The rescuers were acquaintances who were previously in the car with the woman when she entered the water early Saturday.
FATAL ARSON-CHARGES
HARTFORD, Conn. — Two men charged with setting a fire that killed a Connecticut woman in 2006 are due in court. John Vailette and Steven Martone were charged last month with committing arson in Branford that killed Kathy Hardy.
CONN SCHOOL SHOOTING-GUN LAW
HARTFORD, Conn. — Gun rights activists are expected to gather on the lawn of the Connecticut state Capitol and protest the one-year anniversary of the state's wide-ranging gun control law. The legislation was signed into law on April 4, 2013, in response to the Newtown school shooting.
