Glover to detail Shreveport's summer jobs program

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Shreveport youth and young adults looking for a summer job, get ready.

Mayor Cedric Glover will announce details of the city's summer jobs program at a news conference Wednesday.

The program also will include internships designed for college students who will be placed in various city government departments.

KTBS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1mwDd8R ) the jobs program will employ Shreveport residents between the ages of 16-21. Participants will work at a variety of public and private organizations and perform tasks ranging from clerical aides, recreation aides, accounting clerks, library aides, tutors and maintenance assistants.

Applications will be available through SPAR Neighborhood Centers and online at www.shreveportla.gov beginning Thursday. The deadline to apply is April 30.
