A cold frontal boundary will stretch from the Southwest to the upper Midwest on Sunday, while a separate cold front will trek eastward off of the Eastern Seaboard.
A cold frontal boundary will extend from the Florida coast to the New England coast on Sunday. A low pressure system along the northern end of the cold front will usher moderate to heavy precipitation across the northeastern corner of the country. Rain and thunderstorms will be possible across the central and northern Mid-Atlantic, as well as southern New England. A swath of heavy snow will push across the Northeast and impact northern New England, while pockets of freezing rain will develop across Upstate New York and central New England. Scattered snow showers will also be possible across the central and northern Appalachians on Sunday.
Meanwhile, a separate cold front will extend from central California to Minnesota. An onshore flow from the Pacific will continue to usher rainy weather across Washington, Oregon and northern California, while light to moderate snow showers will move across the Cascades and the northern Sierra Nevadas. Several waves of low pressure will propagate over the Great Basin and the Intermountain West, bringing moderate to heavy snow showers to the northern Rockies, as well as a mixture of rain and snow to the northern Plains.
Mostly clear conditions can be expected from the Desert Southwest to the southern Plains on Sunday due to high pressure over the Four Corners and the Gulf Coast.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday have ranged from a morning low of -7 degrees at Intl Falls, Minn. to a high of 85 degrees at Kendall, Fla.
