ESSEX, Vt. (AP) — A nationwide fundraiser that lets brides-to-be purchase gowns that support cancer patients will make a tour stop in the Vermont town of Essex.
The Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns will stop at The Essex Resort and Spa Sunday with almost 1,000 designer and brand name wedding gowns. The proceeds of the sales support cancer patients and their families. The dresses are also sold at discounts ranging from 25 to 85 percent off. Organizers say the average gown price is $600.
Last year the tour raised $2 million.
Brides Against Breast Cancer is owned by the Center for Building Hope, a Florida non-profit that provides free psychological, social and education services for cancer patients and families.
