SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Northern Nevada tourism officials are hoping off-road enthusiasts will to flock to the Reno-Sparks area for a new special event this summer.
Sparks officials and the Nugget hotel-casino joined longtime local businessman Norm Diana on Wednesday in announcing the first Silver State 4WD & UTV Jamboree to be held July 14-19.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://tinyurl.com/mtyvrmo ) The event will pit dozens of off-road vehicles against each other in a variety of competitions at Dianda's Wild West Motorsports Park east of Sparks.
Sponsors say as many as 50 off-road vehicles are expected to compete with hundreds more converging on the area for the weekend.
The Nugget will serve as the host hotel.
