LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Texas Tech University will rely on a propane-powered noise cannon to try to scare pesky birds away from campus during spring break week.
Officials with the school in Lubbock say the bird relocation program begins at dusk Monday and will continue at similar times Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tech spokesman Chris Cook says school officials want to make sure that people in nearby residences and businesses are aware of the loud effort.
Tech authorities say bird droppings have become an issue, especially as the creatures roost over walkways, entrances and other busy areas of campus.
The cannon will be sounded near various campus buildings.
