SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Both chambers in the Utah Legislature have approved a measure aiming to improve campaign finance reporting and better disclose lobbyist efforts at the state Capitol.
The measure now goes to the governor for final approval or a veto.
Under the bill, candidates who fail to report campaign contributions on time would be fined at least $50. If the election is less than 30 days away, candidates running in contested races would have three days to report such contributions.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1eBiITn ) the bill would also create a link to the reports on the Legislature website.
The bill also deals with lobbying efforts at the Capitol. It would require lobbyists to wear badges denoting the organization or company they work for.
The Legislature finished its 45-day session Thursday night.
