Wofford eases past Georgia Southern 71-57 in semis

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Lee Skinner scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as No. 3 seed Wofford beat seventh-seeded Georgia Southern 71-57 in the semifinals of the Southern Conference tournament on Sunday.

Wofford advanced to its third tournament championship game in five years and will face No. 5 seed Western Carolina on Monday after it upset top-seeded Davidson. Wofford beat Western Carolina 71-60 on Jan. 20.

Wofford led by as many as 23 points (53-30) on Spencer Collins' basket with 10 minutes remaining.

Karl Cochran had 14 for Wofford (19-12), while Eric Garcia hit three 3-pointers and finished with 12.

Cochran's buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave Wofford a 33-20 halftime lead after the Terriers shot 43.3 percent and held Georgia Southern to 26.9, on 7-of-26 shooting.

Georgia Southern (15-19) was led by Brian Holmes and Tre Bussey with 14 apiece.
