T25 BASKETBALL-SCHEDULE

Cavs lead the way

UNDATED (AP) — The fifth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers are on the road this afternoon for a game at Maryland against the Terps. The Cavs start the day with a record of 25-5. There are two other Top-10 teams in action, one this afternoon and one this evening.

In Tallahassee, Fla., this afternoon the unranked Seminoles of Florida State are hosting No. 7 Syracuse while tonight ninth-ranked Wisconsin is at Nebraska.

Completing today's schedule of games with ranked teams, No. 17 Saint Louis is at Massachusetts and 22nd-ranked Michigan State is at Ohio State.

NBA-SCHEDULE

Brief afternoon card in the NBA

UNDATED (AP) — There are two games being played this afternoon in the NBA. In Chicago the Bulls are squaring off with Miami's Heat and in Los Angeles the Lakers are facing Oklahoma City.

In the Miami-Chicago game the Heat are looking to put an end to a two-game losing streak while in L.A. the Thunder are looking to take over the lead in the Western Conference. The Thunder start the day tied with the idle San Antonio Spurs for the best mark in the West at 46-16.

In tonight's portion of the schedule two of the better Western Conference teams are meeting in Houston as the Rockets entertain the Blazers. The home team has a mark of 43-19 and a four-game winning streak while the Blazers are 42-20.

Indiana, the top team in the East with a record of 46-15, is on the road for a game in Dallas while Atlantic Division leader Toronto is at Minnesota.

The remaining games have Denver at New Orleans, the Kings at Brooklyn, Boston home to Detroit and Phoenix at Golden State.

NHL-SCHEDULE

A pair of afternoon games in hockey

UNDATED (AP) — In an early start on ice, two teams vying for the final playoff spot in the NHL East are meeting in New York. The Rangers began the day with 72 points while the visiting Red Wings had 71.

In a late afternoon contest the Panthers are hosting the Bruins. Boston is just a point back of idle Pittsburgh for the Eastern Conference lead.

Tonight the Blackhawks are at Buffalo, Minnesota is home to St. Louis and the Kings are in Edmonton to meet the Oilers.

NASCAR

Lagano starts from the front

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Joey Logano won the pole on Friday for today's NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He set a track record with the speed of 193.28 mph. The second-fastest qualifier was the man who won the pole last week, Brad Keselowski. Clint Bowyer will start third alongside Austin Dillon. Jimmie Johnson is in fifth.

Most of the drivers surpassed the previous track speed record during qualifying.

GOLF-CADILLAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Final round today

DORAL, Fla. (AP) —Patrick Reed has the lead after three rounds of the Cadillac Championship in Doral, Fla. He shot a 3-under 69 to finish play 4-under for the tournament after 54 holes. Jason Dufner and Hunter Mahan (MAY'-han) are tied for second at 2 under par.

Tiger Woods had a great third-round 6-under 66 to position himself just three shots off the lead.

PGA-PUERTO RICO CLASSIC

Fourth round underway

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (AP) — The final round of play is in progress in the PGA's Puerto Rico Open, and the leader is Chesson Hadley. He starts the day 16 under par, one shot in front of Danny Lee and David Toms.
