SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Paul Watson made 4 of 8 3-point attempts, totaling 16 points, to lead Fresno State to a dominating 69-56 victory over San Jose State Saturday night.

Fresno State, which has now won eight of its last nine games, secured the No. 7 seed for the Mountain West Conference tournament, beginning Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Fresno State (16-15, 9-9) started slow, but had a 24-7 run to finish the first half and take a 35-13 lead. San Jose State charged back in the second half to close to 43-34 with 14:39 remaining following a 3-pointer by Rashad Muhammad. The Bulldogs answered with their own run to lead 63-44 with 3:43 remaining after Cezar Guerrero hit a jumper and made a layup.

Guerrero and Tyler Johnson had 12 points apiece for Fresno State. Marvelle Harris added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Muhammad led San Jose State (7-23, 1-17) with 17 points.
