PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — DaVon Haynes scored 22 points and Tevin Hammond had 20 as Arkansas-Pine Bluff closed its regular season with an 83-68 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.
Daniel Broughton added 14 points, hitting 4 of 8 from 3-point range for Arkansas-Pine Bluff (13-17, 11-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference), which went 12 of 25 from beyond the arc. Hammond was 3 of 6 on 3-pointers.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff never trailed, building a 42-33 halftime advantage and leading by as many as 19 in the second half en route to their ninth win in their last 11 games.
Anthony McDonald and Jeffrey Simmons each had 14 points for Mississippi Valley State (9-22, 5-13), which has lost eight of its last nine and was playing its first game under interim head coach Marcus Thomas after former head coach Chico Potts was reassigned to another position.
