MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Antoine Allen scored 24 points, including five 3-pointers, to lift South Alabama to a 78-73 victory over Texas-Arlington on Saturday night.

Tied at 54 late in the second half, South Alabama (11-20, 5-13 Sun Belt Conference) grabbed the lead with a 16-4 run capped by a Mychal Ammons dunk that made it 70-58 with 3:35 to go, holding off the Mavericks down the stretch.

Augustine Rubit contributed 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Ammons and Ken Williams had 13 points apiece for the Jaguars, who shot just 39 percent from the field in avenging their Jan. 25 loss to Texas-Arlington (14-16, 9-9).

Brandon Edwards led Texas-Arlington with 18 points, including a perfect 11 for 11 from the free throw line. Jamel Outler had 13 points, Reger Dowell 11 and Anthony Walker 10 for the Mavericks.
