ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Mark Nwakamma scored 19 points and added a career-high six blocks as No. 3 Hartford coasted past sixth-seeded Binghamton 69-42 in the America East tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.
Taylor Dyson added 18 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Hawks (17-15), who advance to face second-seeded Stony Brook (22-9) in Sunday's semifinals. Evan Cooper scored 12.
Yosef Yacob led the way with 10 points for the Bearcats (7-23). Jordan Reed, who came into the game second in the league with 15.7 points per game, finished with seven points on 2 of 12 shooting.
Hartford shot 52 percent from the floor and turned in its best defensive effort of the season to beat Binghamton for the seventh-straight time. Hartford held the Bearcats — 14 of 49 from the floor — to their second-lowest score of the year.
The Hawks jumped out to a 17-3 lead and took a 31-20 edge into halftime.
