HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Justan Banks scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Alabama A&M past Grambling State 80-63 on Saturday night.

Jeremy Crutcher hit a 3-pointer to cap Alabama A&M's 12-2 start. The Bulldogs led 40-29 at the half and never trailed.

Brandon Ellis scored 16 points and Crutcher added 13 with 11 assists for Alabama A&M (13-15, 9-9 Southwestern Athletic), which has a bye in the opening round and will play a quarterfinal game in the upcoming SWAC tournament in Houston on Thursday.

A'Torri Shine and Antwan Scott each scored 16 points to lead Grambling State (4-23, 3-15), which will play in the opening round as the No. 10 seed on Tuesday. Steven Danridge scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Tigers, who have lost four of their last five games.
