BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Devonte Upson came off the bench to score 16 points and JaMichael Hawkins added 15 as Southeastern Louisiana snapped a four-game losing skid with a 71-62 victory over Lamar and clinched the eighth seed in the Southland Conference tournament on Saturday night.
Dre Evans added 11 points and Onochie Ochie chipped in 10 as the Lions (12-17, 7-11) combined to shoot 46.8 percent from the floor.
Senior Amos Wilson, in his final game as a Cardinal, scored 19 points to lead Lamar (4-26, 3-15) and Octavius Green came off the bench to add 11. The Cardinals made just 3 of 17 (17.6 percent) field-goal attempts midway through the first half, edged up to 24 percent by the break, and finished at 32.8 percent.
Lamar lost 8 of its last 9 games to close out the season and will not be making an appearance in the tournament, which starts March 12.
