BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres have recalled defenseman Chad Ruhwedel from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

The move on Saturday was made after defenseman Alexander Sulzer sustained a lower-body injury in Friday's 2-0 loss at Florida.

Ruhwedel, 23, has played in seven games for the Sabres this season. He hasn't recorded a point but has a team-best plus-3 rating.

The Sabres signed Ruhwedel out of UMass-Lowell in April 2013.
