Toledo tops Eastern Michigan 77-66

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Justin Drummond scored 22 points and Toledo took down Eastern Michigan 77-66 Saturday to capture a share of the Mid-American Conference regular season title.

Toledo (26-5, 14-4) tied Western Michigan in the conference standings, but Western Michigan has a better division record and holds the top seed in the conference tournament.

Leading 35-32 at half, Toledo opened the second half on a 9-0 run. Eastern Michigan cut the lead to 56-53, but Drummond responded with nine straight points as the Rockets pulled away.

Rian Pearson had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Toledo while Julius Brown had 13 points and tied Drummond with seven assists. Jonathan Williams added 12 points.

Karrington Ward led Eastern Michigan (18-13, 10-8) with 20 points. Raven Lee added 14 and Mike Talley 12.

Toledo earned its school record 26th win of the year, and finished the season undefeated home for the first time since 1966-67.
