MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A person with knowledge of the agreement tells The Associated Press that veteran quarterback Matt Cassel is re-signing with the Minnesota Vikings.
The person says the two sides reached agreement Friday, one day before Cassel would be able to open negotiations with other teams. The person requested anonymity because an official announcement has not been made.
Terms of the deal were not immediately available. The agreement was first reported by the NFL Network.
Cassel went 3-3 in his six starts for the Vikings last year and was on the field at the end of the game for all five of the team's victories. Cassel opted out of the final year of his deal in February. He threw 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season.
