PHOENIX (AP) — Scott Kazmir pitched three scoreless innings in his debut for the Oakland Athletics in a 2-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Kazmir, a left-hander who signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the A's over the winter, gave up two hits and struck out two.
Left-hander Wade Miley had a strong effort for Arizona, pitching five innings and giving up an unearned run on three hits. He walked one and struck out four.
The unearned run came in the fifth inning when Josh Reddick scored on a grounder by Stephen Vogt that was booted for an error by Arizona shortstop Didi Gregorius.
Daric Barton drove in Oakland's second run with a single in the eighth.
