COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Frederic St. Denis from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

St. Denis (saint deh-NEE) is expected to join the club prior to Saturday's game at Nashville.

The 28-year-old has nine goals and 15 assists with 28 penalty minutes and a plus-14 plus rating in 51 games with Springfield this season.

Before signing with Columbus in July 2013, the 5-foot-11, 192-pound native of Quebec spent four seasons in the Montreal Canadiens' organization.

The Blue Jackets are down two defensemen due to injuries.
