CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Rashawn Thomas and Jeff Beverly each scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat McNeese State 67-51 on Thursday night.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (16-14, 13-4 Southland Conference), which has now won six straight, limited McNeese State to 30.6 percent shooting (19 of 62), including 15 percent (3 of 20) from deep. Ledrick Eackles, who came in averaging 17.7 points — 27.3 over the last four — was held to four points, finishing 0 for 11 from the field.

The Islanders opened the second half with a 14-6 run, opening up a 42-32 lead with 15:51 left.

Brandon Pye's 3 about 2½ minutes later sparked an 11-4 TAMUCC run, pushing its lead to 53-38 with 11:28 remaining. The Cowboys (10-19, 8-9) wouldn't threaten again.

John Jordan, who finished with 10 points and six assists, became the ninth player in TAMUCC history to score 1,000 career points.
