SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — Alan Williams had 18 points and 11 rebounds as UC Santa Barbara made a big early run to take control of the game and cruised to an 86-77 win over Hawaii on Thursday.

Kyle Boswell scored 17 points for the Gauchos. Zalmico Harmon added 16 points, Michael Bryson had 13 and Mitch Brewe ended with 11 points.

Christian Standhardinger paced the Warriors with 18 points and seven boards.

Santa Barbara (20-8, 11-4 Big West) used a 23-5 run early in the first half — including three 3-pointers by Bryson — to open up a 28-12 lead. Hawaii (19-10, 8-7) countered with a 10-0 run just before half to cut its deficit to 39-27.

Boswell's layup with 11:22 left put UCSB up 19 points at 59-40. Hawaii trimmed it to seven with 23 seconds left on an Aaron Valdes 3-pointer, but it was too little, too late.
