HOUSTON (AP) — Jeremy Smith led the way with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting as Nicholls beat Houston Baptist 75-62 for a sweep of the season series on Thursday night.

Nicholls (13-13, 10-7 Southland Conference) used a 10-0 run to extend its lead to 60-48 with just less than six minutes to play and Houston Baptist (6-24, 2-15) never challenged from there.

The Colonels jumped ahead 14-4 and led the rest of the way. Houston Baptist closed the deficit to 50-48 on an Alex Fountain free throw with 8:57 left but the Huskies would get no closer.

Dantrell Thomas and T.J. Carpenter scored 13 points each, and Shane Rillieux added 11. Thomas also had nine rebounds while Carpenter made four 3-pointers.

Rob Lewis led Houston Baptist with 28 points and Colton Lasher scored 10.
