MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Augustine Rubit scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as South Alabama avenged an overtime loss to Texas State earlier this season with a 63-53 win Thursday.

Antoine Allen added 13 points for South Alabama (10-20, 4-13 Sun Belt Conference). The Jaguars never trailed and jumped to a 20-8 lead en route to a 31-18 halftime advantage. Rubit led South Alabama with 10 first-half points.

Texas State (8-22, 4-13) cut the lead to 52-48 with 5:12 left in the game, but Allen responded with a basket and Ken Williams' make extended the lead to 56-48 with 3:15 to play. Williams added a 3-pointer with 1:20 left to make it 61-53 as South Alabama held off the Bobcats.

Joel Wright, who had the game-winning free throws in Texas State's 67-66 OT win against the Jaguars on Feb. 20, scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Bobcats.
