DULUTH, Ga. (AP) — Shanece McKinney scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and four blocked shots as Louisiana State snapped its longest losing streak in 19 years by beating Alabama 78-65 in the second round of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Thursday night.
LSU (19-11) ended a six-game losing streak, its longest since the 1994-95 season. The Lady Tigers will play No. 2 seed Tennessee in Friday's quarterfinals.
Danielle Ballard had 18 points and Theresa Plaisance had 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks for LSU.
Shafontaye Myers led Alabama (14-16) with 27 points, including the Crimson Tide's first 14 points of the game. Daisha Simmons had 18 points.
Alabama closed the regular season by beating LSU 78-60 on Sunday. The Crimson Tide trailed by 25 points in the tournament rematch.
