WGU Announces New Scholarship for Emerging Business Leaders

SALT LAKE CITY, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Western

Governors University (WGU), www.wgu.edu, is encouraging business

leaders with some college experience to continue their professional

development with a new scholarship for degree programs in the online

competency-based university's College of Business.

The Emerging Leaders in Business Scholarship is designed for new

students who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in business. The

scholarships provide $500 per six-month term for up to four terms. The

total scholarship value is $2,000.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, students must have

completed an associate's degree or at least 40 college credits.

Applicants must also be working as a business professional and have

completed an application for admission to WGU. Other requirements

include completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid

(FAFSA), an interview with a WGU Scholarship Counselor, and an essay

describing why they want to finish their degree. Degree programs

eligible for the scholarship include:

-- B.S. Business Management

-- B.S. Business - Human Resource Management

-- B.S. Business - Information Technology Management

-- B.S. in Sales and Sales Management

-- B.S. in Marketing Management

-- B.S. in Accounting

While WGU will award multiple scholarships, the Emerging Leaders in

Business Scholarship is a competitive program. Scholarships will be

awarded based on academic record, financial need, readiness for online

study, and current competency. The application deadline is June 30,
