ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) — Algeria's ailing president has filed his documents to be a candidate in the April 17 elections, when he is favored to win a fourth term.
Journalists and photographers outside the court glimpsed Abdelaziz Bouteflika through a car window briefly on Monday swooped to the Constitutional Court.
Since a stroke last year and a lengthy convalescence in France, Bouteflika, 76, has only been seen rarely on TV and his health is believed to have been seriously affected. His intention to seek another term was announced last month.
The deadline to submit the necessary documents and signatures is midnight Tuesday.
