The Tacoma Rainiers came back to earn a split in their four game series at Salt Lake with a 5-3 win over the Bees on Friday night. Tacoma led 2-1 going into the sixth inning when they put three runs on the board against Salt Lake relief pitcher Nathan Bland. Howie Kendrick's two run single in the eighth inning pulled the Bees to within two runs of the Rainiers, but Tacoma reliever Emiliano Fruto escaped without any further damage.
Jeff Heaverlo (0-2) took the loss despite allowing just two runs on three hits over five innings of work. Kendrick led the Bees' offense with two hits and two runs batted in, while Nick Gorneault drove in a run to give him an RBI in thirteen of his last fourteen games. Maicer Izturis continued his rehab assignment with Salt Lake and went 2-for-4 with a double.
