ALPINE — Utah athlete Chris Fogt, who won bronze in Sochi, got a warm welcome from his hometown today.

Fogt isn't the only one excited about his new hardware.

Hundreds of people lined the streets in Alpine to catch a glimpse, and maybe even a touch, of Fogt and the Olympic bronze medal he won in the four-man bobsled in Sochi.

“You wanna bite it? Sure, bite it! Here you go,” Fogt told a fan.

"I touched it and there was like this crystal stuff on there and there was like, meteorite, and it was awesome,” said parade attendee Calob Taylor.

But when Fogt went past the junior high, things got a little out of control.

"Junior high reception was great. I got mauled by about 200 junior high kids grabbing my face and touching the medal,” Fogt said. “But to tell you the truth, everyone was really excited and I was that age (once), and things are just a little crazy out there sometimes, but I thought it was great."

The celebration showed Fogt that his friends and neighbors are proud of him.

Fogt won the bronze in the four-man bobsled team with fellow Utahn Steven Holcomb. Fogt is a two-time Olympian and an Army veteran. After returning from the 2010 Vancouver Games, he served a year in Iraq before he began his training for Sochi.
