MOSCOW (AP) — A local community leader in Ukraine's Crimea region says armed men have seized two government buildings in the regional capital, Simferopol. And the legislature's press office is confirming with the Interfax news agency that the Crimean legislative building has been seized. Fistfights broke out Wednesday outside the legislature's building between pro- and anti-Russian demonstrators. Meanwhile, in Kiev, opposition leaders who took charge after pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych (yah-noo-KOH'-vich) fled are working on forming a new government.

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has vetoed a bill that would have allowed business owners to deny services based on their religious beliefs. The Republican bill set off a national debate over gay rights, religion and discrimination. Loud cheers erupted outside the Capitol building when Brewer made the announcement about Senate Bill 1062, which she says says she discussed with lawyers, citizens, businesses and lawmakers.

DETROIT (AP) — Federal investigators are looking into whether General Motors acted quickly enough to recall 1.6 million older-model small cars in a case linked to 13 deaths. On Tuesday, GM doubled the number of cars in a recall for faulty ignition switches. Documents show GM knew of the problem as early as 2004. The recall affects some older models of the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky sports cars, the Saturn Ion, Chevy HHR SUV, Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The first host of the popular game show "The Dating Game" has died. Jim Lange was 81. His wife says Lange died Tuesday morning at his home in Mill Valley, Calif., after suffering a heart attack. "The Dating Game" debuted in the mid-1960s and Lange hosted the show for more than a decade.

NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City woman and her newborn are doing well after the baby girl made a surprise entrance on the crosswalk of a busy street. The open-air birth happened Monday afternoon on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Fox 5 News reports that the woman had left her building to go to the hospital but the baby wouldn't wait. Several people stopped to help until police and medics arrived. Women offered scarves to wrap the baby.
