RENO, Nev. (AP) — NV Energy says it contributed $5.4 million last year to various Nevada nonprofit organizations through its foundation.
The state's largest electric utility says the funding helped nearly 500 nonprofits statewide that support public education, environmental protection, youth, arts and cultural outreach and health and human services.
The company on Tuesday said its employees also volunteered nearly 45,000 hours of their time to civic causes.
Executives say the contributions come from the company and are not funded by customers.
