RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) -- The Wyoming Department of Corrections is negotiating with a Salt Lake City development company to build 48 housing units in Rawlins for Wyoming State Penitentiary employees.

Corrections Director Bob Lampert said Synergy Development submitted a winning bid to build affordable, quality housing.

Negotiations now concern such things as the length of a lease agreement and the construction timetable.

Lampert said about a dozen companies responded to his agency's request for proposals.

Synergy Development general counsel Benson Miller says the contracting company is proposing renting three-bedroom units for $900 a month, two-bedroom units for $750 a month and one-bedroom units for $600 a month.
