WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are searching for three people who led them on a short car chase, crashed, then fled Friday morning.
An officer spotted a white Toyota Corolla speeding as it left an apartment complex at 3800 South and Redwood Road, according to Lt. Dalan Taylor with the West Valley City Police Department.
The officer tried to pull it over but the car’s driver increased speed instead. About one block later, the car crashed into a light pole at the intersection of 3800 South and 2200 West.
"It looks like they probably tried to make a turn and ended up hitting one of the semaphores here at the intersection," Taylor said.
Three people inside the car fled on foot. Officers chased them and even called in two K-9 officers but were unable to find those who fled.
Police were using the car's registration to try to track down the owner, Taylor said.
Updates will be posted as they become available.
