SALT LAKE CITY — It’s been 10 years since audiences first met Elder Rogers and Elder Calhoun, fictional Latter-day Saint missionaries from the Scott S. Anderson film, “The Best Two Years.”

KC Clyde, who played Rogers, caught up with the Flicks Junkies this week to discuss the success of the film and to also talk about what he’s been up to for the last decade.

“It’s 10 years this year,” Clyde told us. “It was made in '03 and released in '04, which is insane…

“It was the first time someone gave me the opportunity to be a lead in the film. They trusted me with that. For my career aspect, it gave me a lot of confidence and it led to more work and it led to other things, and I will always hold a special place for that film.“

Clyde’s performance, along with the film, was critically well received at its opening. Somewhere during the trend of LDS slapstick projects, “The Best Two Years” was recognized for its sincere depiction of a two-year proselyting mission, unique to young Mormon men and women.

In fact, Christopher Null of FilmCritic.com said, “If you see one Mormon movie in your life (and really, to expose yourself to a different point of view, you ought to see one), this is the one to see.”

Clyde noted that “The Best Two Years” remains a unique project on his resume. “It was the first time for me, where I was able to combine what I personally believe with what I do for a living. That has never repeated itself since, so for me it was great. It was a kick. It was really, really fun and very different.”

Since the release, Clyde has been very active in Los Angeles, appearing in TV shows like “ER” and “Veronica Mars.” Clyde also just wrapped shooting of “Anatomy of Deception,” a Lifetime movie, and co-stars in the pilot “Swallow Your Bliss,” which he’s hoping will be picked up by Fox.

“On top of that,” Clyde continued, “about five, six years ago, I started a production company and have been slowly producing my own projects and things that I want to get off the ground. “
