This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
If going hunting in Alaska or fishing in Costa Rica sounds like something you would enjoy, I have just the company to tell you about. Saginaw Bay specializes in hunting, fishing and site-seeing expeditions to both places.
Larry Bauer has always been an avid outdoorsman. For 18 years he was involved in a recreational business selling ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft. After he sold his business, he missed his affiliation with the outdoors.
In March 2006, Larry had the opportunity to purchase a fishing lodge in Alaska. The lodge had fallen into disrepair and required extensive renovations, so Larry went into partnership with his friend Lindsay Parker and bought the lodge, which became Saginaw Bay.
Saginaw is designed to provide visitors with a unique opportunity to experience Alaska's fishing, wildlife and scenery in a non-commercialized way. Guests not only have the option to fish and hunt but can also site-see or take advantage of the spectacular photo opportunities. Participants of Saginaw Bay's tours to Costa Rico can experience some of the best fishing in the world while staying in luxurious beach accommodations.
Larry and Lindsay own all the properties where their guests stay and coordinate the trips. While running a business so far away from the company's Heber City headquarters can present a logistical challenge, partnerships with local businesses and on-site managers keep the company running smoothly.
Larry says Saginaw Bay is unique because it offers a variety of one-on-one experiences in remote locations. He hopes to share his passion for the outdoors with Saginaw customers. While the lodge in Alaska has already expanded once, Larry hopes to see it continue improving and growing. Eventually he would like to offer additional trips to other parts of the United States and the world.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
