DETROIT (AP) - Former NFL fullback B.J. Askew has been charged in Michigan with failing to pay about $268,000 in child support.
The Michigan attorney general's office says Askew was arrested in Hillsborough County, Fla., on Jan. 7. He'll be extradited to Detroit to face the charge.
The 33-year-old Askew played college football at Michigan and was drafted by the New York Jets in 2003. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007, but his career was cut short by injuries from a car accident in 2009.
Michigan authorities say Askew has three children in the state but hasn't made a support payment since November 2012. The Associated Press left a message Tuesday seeking comment from his attorney.
